I am new to this group.   In September I was diagnosed with CML.   Was being monitored by the transplant center (Kidney transplant November 2007) on a weekly basis to make sure my creatinine was within normal limits and they noticed an increase in my WBC's, they sent me to the hematologist when it was at 37,000.    He started me immediately on 400mg of Gleevac.    Within 2 weeks my WBCs were at 11,000.    All labs are basically at normal level.    HBG is a little low at 9.

Anyway, as far as side effects are concerned I have experienced daily diarrhea, nothing extreme, and nothing that can't be handled.   Was experiencing some slight discomfort around area of the spleen but that has dissipated.

They were seeing me every week, now every two weeks and then every month, eventually every three months.

I read your letters every day and thought  i'd join in today.

Thanks for being there for people like me.
