Hello Fellow Survivors This is an update on Bethany.........for those who may be new and do not know.....Bethany is a little five year old girl at my church who was diagnosed with a tumor entangled with the optical nerves and the doctors said that they could not operate. They did tell her family that they had been successful with treating this type of tumor with chemotherapy. She started with a round of ten treatments.......had a CT scan and the tumor was responding to the chemo and shrinking. This was back in Oct.........she was then put on a schedule of four weeks of treatment and then off two weeks. The first ten weeks of treatments did not make her all that sick.....I think once she was nauseated and threw up. But now..........it's worse.....she is very fatigued & she is getting sick during the treatment and has to go right to bed once she gets home. They are giving her something for the nausea, but doesn't seem to be helping very much. So, Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
I am also including her name and address once again for you to send her get well cards. Bless her heart, this seems to be the only thing that really lifts her spirits......her mother said when she has a mailbox full of cards from people everywhere, she gets so excited.......she brings them to church in boxes to show anyone that wants to look. She has received some from other countries.......from school children......from different church groups, etc. Her mother said that she (Bethany) is saving everyone of them, too. Takes them out over and over again to look at. Some school classes are taking her as a special project and each student will create a card, the teacher includes a message and then sends them all in a huge manila envelope. Some Sunday School groups or other church ministries have done the same thing. One church took just a simple notebook, decorated the outside and let all the different members write some encouraging words, then signed their name.....it was then sent. I thought, how neat that is. So, please, if you have a little bit of time, send her a card.......or if you are a teacher, S.S. teacher, or some other group leader, quilting group, sewing, jogging, whatever....think about taking her on as a special project and send her cards.
