Hi Kelly,
So sorry for your troubles,
I hope you get them sorted out soon.
Have you thought about TAsigna.
I'm on it and it is great.
No swelling at all.
Just a thought.
Blessings,
Jeanie<3

That's a very good question with a somewhat complicated answer. I was
in a clinical study with the Gleevec. I started getting progressively
forgetful (couldn't remember even conversations from the day before),
had terrible nightly headaches, vision deteriorated pretty bad. They
took me off the Gleevec in October and sent me to a neuro/
ophthalmologist - he determined it was the Gleevec causing the
symptoms. Boot - off the study I went. They wrangled with my insurance
company to pay for Sprycel. Got the Sprycel at 70 mg x2 a day. By the
end of 2 weeks, I could not even say a complete sentence I was so out
of breath (fluid overload). On Christmas Eve, my doc called the
hospital I HAD to go to for bloodwork and x-rays and ordered both.
They verified orders with faxes and phone calls. I get to the hospital
and they claimed they had no such orders (not the first time -
Aultcare Hospital - Aultman Insurance....hmmmm). Then my husband got
laid off on New Years Eve - his employer was also in the process of
changing insurance companies. My husband paid for COBRA - never got
insurance cards or anything else to verify we had coverage. At the end
of January we received requests from new insurance company to fill out
MORE forms. So much for January's payment - couldn't even use the
insurance. They say you have "coverage" - problem is, you can't use
it. No money to go to doc. No news from Cleveland Clinic. I sent an
email to my NP at Cleveland Clinic and told her I felt like I was put
out to pasture since I couldn't participate in the clinical trial any
longer. No followup after the Sprycel debacle. Since we have to wait
for our income tax refund and cashing in my husband's 401k to pay for
COBRA - we are in the "pending" section as far as insurance goes which
means we have none. This new insurance copay on "specialty drugs" is
30% or $300, whichever is less. Ha! Meanwhile, Cleveland Clinic
brought me in for a visit - signed me up for financial assistance -
had me undergo a colonoscopy and are arguing with the makers of
Sprycel to send me the drug for free (at a lower dose - 50 mg x2 a
day). I am still waiting............and dreading that drug. I tried to
make the argument for lower doses of Gleevec, no go. So, I pray.
