Lori: I am glad all is going well with you and your pregnancy. Am also glad to hear they will let you breastfeed for at least one month. As far as induction goes......I had that done with my one & only son but my goodness it was back in Dec. '79. They started the IV drip about 7 in the morning and he was born at 4:24p.m. The only problem I had with it was the nurse lady sitting with me increased the medicine in the late afternoon to where the contractions were so close together, I couldn't breath right and ended up hyperventilating and they gave me an oxygen mask (smile). She finally got it regulated and no more problems. I had gone two weeks over due and my doctor didn't allow his o.b. patients longer than that (reason for inducing). I did breastfeed, but only got to do that for two weeks because I got so very sick from iron vitamins, that before we figured out what was causing the flu like symptoms....my milk pretty much dried up. I didn't eat anything for about a week.....after going home. Once they determined it was the iron..& told me to stop taking them, I had already gone and got formula for him (poor little thing was about to starve). It was the doctor who told me to begin taking the pre-natal vitamins again once I got home. It was funny that I took them pretty much through the whole pregnancy and never had a problem. LOL!!!! Oh well.....I always felt at least he got the most important part of the breastfeeding.....the beginning which has all the good stuff they are suppose to get! :)
