Hi cml warriors,
I am on medicare and have part D insurance. My sprycel is very expensive until
I get through the donuthole. In January I paid about 1400 dollars and then in
February it jumped up to 3260. By March I was through the donut hole and I
paid about 200. I did apply to Bristol Myers for help but I would have had to
sign off of my Part D for Sprycel and that sent a red flag up for me because
you have to get approval every year for help from Brystol Myers. I didn't want
to do that what would happen if you signed off the part D for sprycel and then
they denied helping you. I just didn't want to chance it. I am so grateful
for Sprycel and the wonderful response that people are experiencing. I have
been PCRU for quite awhile now. Praise the Lord.

Hi Nancy and yes, we all have these worries that we won't be able to get out
meds.
I am on Medicare part D and it pays for all my Sprycel so far. You will have
to pay some co-pay and some when the gap comes, but it's not too bad, and you
can get help paying the co-pays if you need it.
Each case if different and by the time you get on Medicare it could be
changed, for the better I hope.
  Good luck

I'm glad the bill passed. I was worried about the lifetime cap that my
ins. policy has. I'm already past $500,000. Now that won't be such a worry.
I don't understand everything about the bill, however. I am too young for
Medicare and am fortunate to have a good insurance policy from my employer,
which also covers prescriptions. Right now, I'm on Nilotinib, which is about
$22,000 every three months. I have a copay of $50. In a few years, Medicare
becomes my primary and my ins. policy becomes my secondary. That's where my
uncertainty lies. Will Medicare cover my high prescription costs? If not, can
my secondary ins. pick up the difference? Will this new bill help those of us
who have extremely high cost medications. Hope I'm still alive to deal with
all these issues! lol!

Thanks for answers from anyone who understands these bills and programs
better than I do.
    Nancy in NY
