I recently switched from Gleevec to Sprycell and found the side
effects to be similar but much less than Gleevec. Perhaps, this is
different for everyone, but I seem to get along much better with
Sprycell. My Onc explained that Gleevec is accepted as the first line
of defense, as it has been around longer than the other drugs and more
results are known concerning it. In many cases it has proven to be
effective. When patients do not respond well to Gleevec, there are now
other options which have been effective and sometimes better. Since
these are newer than Gleevec, less is known about the long term
effects.
