Hi Peg,

I was on Gleevec for 4 1/2 yrs. and switched to Tasigna in June of 2008.
I've been on T. ever since. I had an EKG before starting Tasigna, then had
several EKG's in the early months. Since I had no QT problems, I am now
down to one EKG a year. I started Tasigna at 400 mg. per day (1/2 the
recommended dose). I took that for one month with NO side effects at all.
Then
I was increased to the suggested dose of 800 mg. per day. You must
remember the fasting required. Two hours of NO food or anything to drink but
water BEFORE taking the drug. One hour fasting AFTER taking the drug. I
found that 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. (approximately) works for me. I felt no side
effects for several weeks, then began to notice scalp itching. It increased
then I noticed some strands of hair falling out one hair at a time, like
in my brush or on my shoulders. I was very concerned about the hairloss,
but both the itching and hair loss fortunately stopped after about six weeks.
(knock on wood....it hasn't come back). I feel great! I usually forget
that I have any health problem, and need to remind myself to take my pills!
I have been PCRU as well. I wish you the best with Tasigna.
