Ruth:

I certainly can understand what you are saying with your family
history. But, no one on either side of my family has had anything
like Leukemia of any kind save my Uncle (Mom's oldest brother) who had
a type of Lymphoma & died after years of treatment and going into
remission, but developed complications later. The only cancer that I
can think of in either sides of my family, my paternal grandfather
died from Pancreatic Cancer back in '67. My mom's only sister died
about a year later from a brain tumor. Everyone else had pretty
healthy lives. So, not really sure about a "heredity" connection with
CML, maybe in families like yours. And, some of these families that
live in an area where there are high rates of cancer caused from the
environmental aspect. Like "Times Beach" here in Missouri from years
ago, or other Superfund areas.

I know we all would like to know the "why's, wherefores, & how come's"
pertaining to our diagnoses, but some of us may never know the
reason, only God does. The main thing to take away from this, is
to educate our selves, try and become as healthy as we can, take our
drugs, & especially, use our experience to help others.......& also,
try and be a blessing to others as well. I find my faith & a good
sense of humor helps lift me up when I am down, motivates me, & gives
me strength and grace to cope and go on.

Blessings to you in your fight:

Suzieq
