Hi Jeanie, Of course eating or drinking anything in moderation is fine but not alcohol. That is sure to trigger a gouty attack if your uric acid is high to begin with.
Your father eating fish was alright. Depending on which fish he liked probably wouldn't effect his gout. However it is not fish in general but crustations like shell fish that are full of purines.
