Hi all, I am a 5th generation Florida and we are sometimes called FL Crackers hehe. I have always been thankful my ancestors decided to settle in FL. I love the beaches and can't imagine life anywhere else. I don't like cold weather and don't think I would last long in the snow. I really believe it's just what we are used to. My GGG Grandfather voted in the first FL 1845 elections, and this makes a Floridian eligible for Pioneer status. I'm love to see the mountains but don't like being in them for long. We always took the family to the Great Smoky Mountains and when we crossed the Fl/Ga line, I would always be glad to be home. The Beach over in the panhandle is some of the most beautiful beach in the world. It road is very curvy and goes right beside the beach. Pure white sand greets you and the fun begins. It has been said if you ever get the sand in your shoes, you will always be back. I have been to a lot of places including Europe and still love FL. Would like to hear where everyone else is from and how you ended up where you are. Susan, we are all entitled to some cry time. Just let me listen to certain songs and the tears will flow. Keep preaching and stay positive. God will never leave us or forsake us for any reason if we keep our faith. The more preaching the better. Hi Susan, I'm so sorry that you had a bad day, but we all do get them and a little crying relieves the pressure and sometimes really helps. I hope that today has been a good one for you. When I was little, and found out that my Grandfather was born in Indiana, I told everyone that I was an American Indian as I, some how, thought that everyone that was born in Indiana was Indian. What a disappointment to find out that he wasn't Indian. Oh well, such is life. My day has been pretty good. My son, in New Jersey, just called me on his way home from work. I love talking to him, but feel that talking while you're driving is a distraction, so I try to make it short. He'll call me again on Sunday from home. His family just drove from Florida to Myrtle Beach and are staying there for a few days. The kids don't start school until the 9th, so they are on their last fling for the summer. Because of "Sandy" they had to go 3 weeks into their summer vacation, so they actually didn't have a long one. I didn't realize that you lived in Florida for so long. I'm not crazy about Florida. There are certain places, like St. Augustine, that I like, but my Father lived in Melbourne and I would visit there. It's to flat for me. I like the mountains etc. I also love the ocean and spent my teenage years on the island of Guam. There we had the mountains and the ocean...great weather too, so the best of everything. My Dad worked for the Navy, so that's how I got there. You have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. It will be quiet here as my little ones won't be here with me. Tomorrow I'll have my son take me to the farm store and pick up some corn on the cob, and other fresh things. I made a wonderful peach/raspberry crisp for dessert tonight. It really was good with the fresh peaches, and fresh raspberries. I hate to see the summer over and the produce will end too. We do get some things up until Christmas, so not to bad. My day started off about the same as yesterday with a lot of leg pain, but it did get better as the day progressed. I still have my left legs full of lumps, but the pain isn't there, thank God. I didn't call the doctor as I hate to be doing that all of the time. Sometimes I get so tired of dealing with doctors, tests, hospitals, blood work, etc. etc. etc. and just want a break from it all. I'm sure that others feel the same way. I forget, but somewhere in the back of my mind it seems like you live in PA. Am I correct. I think your home would be neat. I have spiders in my old house, and it's above ground. I get the exterminator in every three months to spray for all of that, plus check for mice and other creatures.
