Hi Millie. I am enjoying your fruit cake stories. When I was a young lad
my Mother and Grandmother always had the no booze fruit cake and I loved
it. Since you sared a story while the family was in the service I would
like to share one I observed while I was serving aboard ship. We arrived
in San Francisco just before Christmas. A shipmate was restricted to the
ship because of his poor drinking habits. One day at Mail Call he received
a package frome. He disappeared below Deck to get his knife to open the
package Moments later he appeared and grabbed a glass, then proceeded to
open the tin and cut a piece of Fruit Cake. He picked up the piece of cake
and instead of taking a bite he put it over the glass and squeezed enough
booze to have a shot ready to drink. Thanks to his mother, his restriction
to ship was extended for adfdfitional time.
