My doctor did not recommend the vaccination to me. I woke up one morning last year with blisters on my shoulder. Recognizing what it was, I was at the hospital within half an hour and received immediate medication. The patch of shingles stayed at about 2" by 3", and healed quickly. The real problems start when people think it is a rash that will go away and leave it untreated for a week or two.
