Well I can say one thing you got that right on. I did 6 years at the
Naval Air Station Glenview, IL.,as a recruiter. I joined up while I was in
high
school 1956 didn't want to go into the Army my older brother was stationed
at Glenview he groomed me into going to the same place he was stationed at
and I was discharged in 1962. I had one day of boot camp, long story.
Went to IU after I left the Navy then I worked at Inland Steel Co. in East
Chicago Indiana for 35 years in quality control. I retired the first of
September of 1995 at 55 and started working for my best friend who owned a
Ford
dealership so he asked me to come their and work as a sales consultant.
Worked their for 4 1/2 years and was second in sales out of 12 people. Then
2 weeks before Christmas I found out that I had CML that was December of
1998. Then my life changed again. Then the big change came in Jan. of 2000
when Dr. Tallmen put me on STI571 (Gleevec). So 15 years later I'm still
here waiting for the next thing to happen which is winning the Florida Lotto.
Things were different back then I wish I could go back in time I liked the
50's and 60's and "DISCO". That was the day's.

Yes I certainly agree. A good friend who never uses my navy language
stated "It's Hell to get OLD. " My elders did not make clear that as I got
older that those little problems we had when we were young would become bigger
and at times they all drop in at the same time. I guess if we did not get
these problems we wouldn't have that much to talk about. Another friend
stated in our group of friends that he never thought we would get together
and all we discussed were our medical problems. We made it through this
day, so I will get some sleep and see what tomorrow brings.

Sometimes it seems that everything happens at once. Glad to here the good
news unhappy about the bad news. Hang in their. As we grow older it
seems the problems we had when we were young go away and the we grow older and
we seem to get new ones, guess that's life.

I met with my ONC today. The good news is that My BCR-ABL was the same as
.6% and matches my test 3 months ago. My HMG is starting to stabilize
with the medications I am taking. We discussed when I should think about
requesting to take a Procrit shot so we are on the same page when I read my
CBC
every 2 weeks.

I am on safe ground for now. My wife took a fall Monday morning and today
they put a cylinder and 1 pin in her upper right thigh. She also
fractured her collar bone close to her cervical bone and possibly cracked a
rib .
So she is having a tough go for a while. She broke her left thigh in the
same area 7 years ago.
