If your requirements are purely around checking in/out and versioning
files, then this might do it for you.

But to me, that it not content management, it is file management.  Sure,
files can be considered "content", but a source control system will not
give you the ability to separate your content from it's layout.  IMHO
this is one of the most important features of a CMS.

Some will differ in opinion I'm sure :)

After my post, I discovered that Infodirect is our branded name for the
application. It is based on SourceForge version 2.6 from VA Software
(http://www.vasoftware.com/).  Just visiting the VA site shows some CM
functionality on the SourceForge product page.
