Well, this is not a problem of just upgrading the OS. I don't think
migrating from OS 9 to OS X is that difficult (technically). The problem
is that, there are licenses to pay and there's an adaptation process for
users. The environment is quite different from one version to the other.
This migration would have an impact on their every day work. Not only
for tasks related to CMS but for any other daily use.

Migration of the whole computer park from one version of an operating
system to another is a serious issue that takes time and money. It has
to be planned and the pros and cons of this migration need to be
seriously analyzed : are the users ready to take that upgrade jump? how
much time will it take until they become as productive as they are with
the actual OS ? because, believe me, they will be lost and non
productive in the beginning.

So.. does the need for a WYSIWYG editor in the CMS justifies by itself
this whole migration ? Remember that we are talking about big press
companies : the migration has an impact on hundreds of users. My answer
is NO. I think that we need to offer solutions regardless of the fact
that users are using this OS or the other. Then, the only solution I
have found, until now as I said before, is this Java Applet EditOnPro
programmed for Java 1.1. I haven't had the time to analyze alternative
solutions suggested in the list, but I will soon.

Regards,

Diego
