Can anybody tell me how to integrate a search engine with a content management system?
We are using Inktomi search engine and Interwoven for content management system.
Both are installed on linux.
I also want to know the issues also involved in this integration .
* Can notify the indexer when new information is published, synchronizing the searchable
index with the content automatically. Also good for deleting content.
* Can index just the meaningful content on a page, avoiding navigation, copyright and
other standard text.
* Avoid indexing problems for sites with session IDs and other complex URLs.
* Avoid http overhead, checking files which haven't changed in years.
I've heard of one search engine, Jeeves One Enterprise, which is so tightly integrated that search terms used but not found are sent to the editorial staff, as suggestions for content topics. That is a cool idea in theory, I prefer to have humans in that loop though!
Ultraseek (Inktomi, soon Verity) has content management connectors, they estimate in the $20k-$35k range to buy the connection software and integrate with the content management systems.
Hope that helps,
