<OFF THE RECORD>

I share the same concerns as you, but one thing is for sure,
WYSIWYG/XML/Traditional editors will become mainstream sooner then most
people expected. This can only be good for users (For CMS Vendors
probably not or may be that ...).

>... though, given the proprietary lock that decision imposes

I don't see any proprietary lock, at least in this case the locking is
no more then the common (even in OpenSource). Furthermore, with the
advent of Webservices, SOAP, XML and WEBDav, Office 11 seams to be a
good choice to create content while managing it in whatever CMS
(OpenSource or not).

Developers, I'm not sure, but user's they may. Anyway, there is more MS
Office users then CMS users. (Is one looking to expand the market or
what? :)

Of course this all will depend on Microsoft ability to convince their
current customer's to upgrade their Office licenses. That is why I'm not
holding my breath still.

>MS focused Intranet users look like the biggest target.

I would not be so sure of that (WebServices will be like electronic
business worms).
