Peter, SAP's TREX (Text Retrieval & Extraction or something like that) is part of KM (Knowledge Management) which is the _file_ content management, collaboration, and search component of SAP's Enterprise Portal. Do you perhaps already have a relationship with those folks?
TREX provides file, web and document mgt system search and automatic document classification, but I don't believe it includes much to help build a taxonomy other than importing an existing structure. If you have access to SAP's Service Marketplace web site there will be a lot of information in the Enterprise Portal section.
