If you worked with Vignette a few years ago, the core cms product is still
based on storyserver & tcl. There is the java option, but you need to get an
app server as well (an additional cost I belive).

What version of story server did you previously use?

If you want more details let me know.

Subject: [cms-list] What's Vignette got these days?

It came up in discussion today that we may be having to work on the
perihpery of a Vignette CMS system.

My past experience with Vignette was several years ago with their
StoryServer product and the concensus seemed to be that it was really
expensive, had proprietary dev tools, and a bit of a bear to work with.

Looking at their site now, I see no sign of StoryServer anymore and really
no sign of anything but marketing-speak on the site.

Can anyone give me a quick one-paragraph synopsis of what Vignette's
offerings are right now? I'm namely looking for the technology the system is
based on and if the system has opened up a bit and become a bit easier to
develop for in these past 4 years or so.
