RE: Documentation ambiguity A _pipeline specification_ is the argument string to PIPE, ADDPIPE, CALLPIPE, RUNPIPE. And with appropriate tweaking, also APPEND and PREFACE.
A pipeline specification consists of one or more _pipelines_ separated
by an _end character_. As the end character must be specified
explicitly, it is active for that particular pipeline specification
only.
