That is with the CMS client.  The "quote mode b" & "quote type e" do
work from my desktop, but I get the same result using them with the CMS
client.  However... it appears we have new firewall software in the mix
and that's probably the issue.  My desktop is outside of it.  So...
"nevermind".

Are you not using a z/OS or CMS client?  If not so, use

    quote TYPE E
    quote MODE B
