RE: The CMS Pipeline Runtime Distribution.
Just to refresh y'all's memory:
The runtime distribution was made available in reponse to a SHARE
requirement that software houses (the most vocal then was Sterling
Software--or was it still called VM Software?) could distribute a
particular version of pipes with their products and thus be sure that
they have the version of CMS Pipelines that they had tested against.
And also be able to offer their products for releases of VM that did
not have adequate indoors plumbing.
