I tried your suggestion, which expanded to "literal F8C2 ..." and Pipe
crashed with...

Thinking the "c2x()" function was the problem I tried with "x2c(8B)" and
that allowed the pipe to finish but the literal line was missing in the new
file.
I am now trying Jim Hughes' ...
