OK, let's say that. Having the name of that exec might send us on a short wild goose chase, but does it hurt anything otherwise? Now let's say the exec put the PIPE command on the stack before calling XEDIT. Then the suggested default name is almost as useful as if the exec issued PIPE directly. (Of course, in most such cases, I'd wind up with pipelines named PIPE and an excuse to educate exec writers about CMDCALL.) ¬R
