You should have learned this from your experience with CMS, where empty lines are prohibited in all files, and empty files are prohibited in MDFS (allowed in SFS, but deemed so pathological that XEDIT makes you confirm when you save one.) CMS Pipelines is more tolerant of this boundary condition, once you get there. TSO abhors human beings; it wants them to behave like tape drives. Tape drives don't issue unsolicited input, nor return null records. -- gil
