AUTOADD adds the record to the reference regardless of matches, and the
default is to add it AFTER processing on the primary, so it doesn't
match itself.  That's equivalent to what I wound up with, using FANOUT
to feed input 2:

  (end /) ... | a: fanout | b: lookup ceiling ... / b: | ... / a: | b:
