Sure, something like this: specs pad 0 w1 1 w2 7 w3 11 w4 16.6 right w5 23.6 right w6 nw Or as Kris points out, something like this: spec a: w1 - print a picture 99999 1 If you can, split the record into words and have a stage to format the word, then join them together again. If that doesn't work, consider to generate the arguments for the spec stage in REXX. Saves you a lot of manual coding. Sir Rob the Plumber
