If the OP has contol of both the transmitting and receiving protocol,
I suggest:
    "pipe strliteral /abc/ | block vbs 80 | pad 80 80 | punch"
and corresponding deblock.

The specification of VBS format is that '80'x introduces a "null segment"
which should be ignored by DEBLOCK VBS.
