Thanks, Nathan. Expression Engine is on my list, but I can't seem to find
any information on their web site about the email alert functionality I've
described.
I don't suppose you would have any links to information regarding this?

The email function on a per weblog or category basis isn't available by
default.
There is a built in notification to admin, or several when a new entry is
posted but thats all for now.
is likely being worked on as there has been requests, and quite a few of
them.
Due to the strong community, this has been brought up and likely solved
soon.
With version2 expected we are hoping that will be built in, if not it will
make it easier to add.
A request to have it custom made could be made to www.solspce.com.
They did a large custom module for me and are very good.
