Sorry Marvin but i think you are starting from the other end of the stick.
To see what sort of CMS you need you first do some other exercises,

Information Architecture
Content Strategy
At this point you can start pondering what type of a CMS you need.
Starting from the CMS will shape the way you design the outcome, it can be a
good path if you are short on time and dont know exactly what you want to be
in the site.
Any how try to broaden your spectrum from the PHP-3 and look at other
free/licensed solution.
If you do go with the php-3 try to use plugins when possible as they give
you the ease of progress and keep the bugs out of your bed.
