I'm puzzled. I've now tried compiling on two different machines (one is
Redhat 9.0, the other Fedora Core 1). I've also tried bootstrapping with
different lisps (2003-12 and 2003-11 snapshots). I've also tried to
build the 2003-11 snapshot, just to verify.

The only thing these systems have in common is glibc-2.3.2. Even the C
compiler versions are different.

In all cases, all CMUCL lisps compiled by me have a non-functioning
"directory".
