Many of us read lists via GMANE. I don't have time to go through all the hoops required to subscribe to all the lists I'm temporarily interested in (and unsubscribe afterwards). Besides, wake up people -- use GMANE, read lists via nntp, and report spam. It only takes a couple of keystrokes to report the spam and filtering out articles crossposted to gmane.spam.detected nicely takes out most spam. The more people report it, the less spam you see. --J.
