Ah, thanks for mentioning the keyword "slave". Things work as I want them to when I run my application in a slave CMUCL under Hemlock. They weren't working when I tried to run the application in the same Lisp as the Hemlock. I think I discovered this years ago, but I've been away from CL hacking for a while and this bit of knowledge slipped away. Thanks to the rest of you for ilisp pointers. I may still end up using that for a while to see which environment I like better. Cheers, Scott
