I'm confused. In may mail to the list (it's archived on the server), I *did* unprofile. The full sequence was I profiled, got the error, unprofiled, redef'ed the macro, profiled again, and got the error again. The message is on http://www.cons.org/maillists/cmucl-help.
One relevant thing seems to be that I get this message the FIRST time I profile anything, and not ever again --- * (profile:profile get-model-framedists) Compiling LAMBDA (PROFILE::NAME PROFILE::CALLERS-P): Compiling Top-Level Form: This makes me think that whatever uses total-consing is getting compiled the first time I use it, which is why later redefinitions of total-consing don't help me, but I'm not really sure. rif
