Is there any way to compile long float support? I got the impression
that it had become mainstream, but apparently binaries aren't
distributed with it. I tried compiling it myself, but it appears to
need a cross-compile, and the cross-compile script I have doesn't seem
to do the job. (Yes, I'm using some random cross-compile script
called cross-x86-x86.lisp that I found lying around.)

I can't escape the sensation that I have already been thinking in Lisp
all my programming career, but forcing the ideas into the constraints
of bad languages, which explode those ideas into a bewildering array
of details, most of which are workarounds for the language.
