main2 is 8% slower on an Intel Celeron 500 and 19% slower on an AMD Athlon Mobility. BTW Gerd it appears you didn't paste in the whole disassembly for main. I had 204 lines for main and 202 lines for main2. You pasted 96 lines for main and 202 lines for main2. Regards, Adam
