I don't know of an easy solution to this. cons.org binaries do not
have common-lisp-controller support, and I don't know what adding it
would involve. If you went down that route, you might be able to add
another cmucl-classic CL flavour to c-l-c and have it put your FASL
files in a dedicated directory. If you work this out, please write up
the procedure so that we can document it on the CMUCL web site. 

I personally download the source to all CL packages, and force
recompilation whenever CMUCL introduces a binary incompatibility.
