OK that's good news...I got no cockroaches, lizards or any other creatures I
can see living on board...I must also have a spotlessly clean boat... but I
still got some work to do, just lucky I guess

Cockroaches are part of the scene in the subtropics, like alligators,
hurricanes, mosquitoes and ice-cold rum runners.

You can only eliminate cockroaches (temporarily) by turning your house into
a toxic waste dump. Cats do a good job of keeping them in check, as do the
three-inch lizards that also get into houses, businesses and occasionally
boats. The basic rule: Do not leave crumbs anywhere.

I've never had cockroaches on my boat. A spotlessly clean boat with dry
bilges will keep them away and starve any who venture aboard. On a similar
note, the only sure for mosquitoes in the cabin is to lock up the boat for a

week.

We don't have really big cockroaches in this part of the great white north.
I was looking at a C&C 35 on the hard in Florida last December and
discovered a big brown cockroach in one of the lockers.
I was about as wide as a good Cuban cigar, and maybe half as long.
Moved pretty quick too.
The broker then nonchalantly said that he had thought that he had got them
all with a bug bomb earlier that week.

All in all I would think it must take some getting used to, having bugs like

that around all the time.

According to the internet, one cockroach lays 30,000 eggs. I guess I
need to pass out cigars, but 30,000 Cuban cigars will *really* deplete
the cruising kitty.

The babies are *so* cute. There's nothing like the pitter-patter of
little feet.
