A windseeker may be a less expensive sail because it's lighter material with
less reenforcements and less stitching? But sails aren't cheap. Then again, our
races are so short, and few of them, it's best not to experiment. In a distance
race, it could make a big difference, and be more worthwhile. We did an 8 mile
race in flukey winds and it could have helped prestart and later in the middle
of the race when the wind dropped to zero and I rolled up the genny and waited
for wind. A windseeker would have been a nice option, but the wind filled in
after about 20 minutes at 4 to 6 kts and built to about 12 for another 30 min,
then veered and peaked at 27 knots right after we crossed the finish line.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing when I read the UK Halsey newletter this
morning .. what the heck is a windseeker and how is it used?
I guess I don't _really_ need to know because it'll sure fall into the "yet
another sail I want but can't afford" category :D

Any sail you can see through intrigues me! Is a windseeker used to ultra-light
winds in place of a gennie?

I like the pictures in UK's newsletter. Umi Taki is shown with a
windseeker/daisy cutter that looks very interesting.
