Can't speak to the prophylactic value of the dead squirrel on the Windex but the 60 degree cone of protection is well documented. Thankfully I have not had to make use of it. I coated Calypso's mast step in epoxy during the last rebuild. The bonding wire (#10 stranded) is still in place and several keel bolts run through the mast step. A 70's era C&C 43 has a lead shoe bolted through a iron keel to the fiberglass keel stub. Given the long path to ground all of the above represents I believe some extra lengths of copper or other conductive material connecting the mast to the ocean is cheap insurance. However, if wiring women, especially young women of sporty build has been rumored to be effective I will use this to explain to the Mrs why my crew is smells and looks better than usual.
