Chuck,
Good luck to you and all of the C&C owners in the path of Sandy. In case you were thinking of moving to the PNW to avoid this next year here is another positive data point. We sailed Calypso today in 8 to 12 TWS up to Blakely Rocks (we motored there when you were out here last summer). It was 60F and the light rain held off until we were back at Shilshole. The Seattle Yacht Club Grand Prix Regatta fleet was sailing the last two races of the weekend to provide eye candy. A pod of Orca (I estimate there was 10 to 14 in the pod) was moving parallel to our course for several hours. The PNW tends to offer 3 to 4 season sailing with the occasional stormy or cold weather. When a severe storm occurs in the Puget Sound area we do not get a storm surge that threatens the moored or stored boats. Again, good luck to all. Just read the NOAA forecast and areas south of her will see a 4 to 8ft surge while areas north of her will see 6 to 11 ft surge which seems pointed toward NYC and Long Island Sound. Sailflow.com showed her making landfall near Barnegat Light on Tuesday. Everything is battened down at home. Headed out now to add another dockline across an empty slip and fill gas cans for the home generator. Think we've made all the preparations we can? I'll wait to watch the news tonight.
