Just to follow up - I brought home one of the old panels. I was able to peel off the vinyl with some plywood attached. I tried using acetone to remove the remaining wood with some success. I then soaked the vinyl in hot water in the kitchen sink (don't try this if your spouse/SO is home). That loosened the glue enough that I was able to scrape off the rest of the wood with a putty knife. I then used Goo Gone to remove the excess glue. I have 1/8 inch luan plywood on order. I bought 3M 90 spray adhesive for vinyl. With any luck I'll have the first panel done and ready for install this weekend.
