Sorry to hear of your Troubles Augie. The last I remember you was of your
ill fated trip down south when winter closed in around you in the
Chesapeake. Your friend had to go home and you had to haul the boat and
also go home. Sometimes fate just decides to kick you while you are down.
I would try to sell the dingy and good sails independently as you probably
won't get much benefit letting them go with the boat. Looks like a
candidate for Craigs list. Keep updating it if you do list it there.

Good Luck.

Subject: Stus-List 1975 C&C 33 for sale - dismasted by Sandy; best offer

Greetings all,

I haven't been reading this list for some months now, the backlog is
some 14,000 messages. My life was full of uncertainty for months and
now, thanks to Sandy, it's even worse. I was living on the boat and
now I'm homeless and can't deal with the logistics of repairs, so I'm
sending this email to see if someone would be interested in restoring
Layla to her former glory.

The bad news: Layla, a 1975 C&C 33 Mk 1, got loose of the mooring during
hurricane Sandy and hit a bridge. The mast is broken in 3 pieces, the
rod rigging had to be cut and all the deck hardware (the tubing) needs to
be replaced. The deck has multiple small holes (stanchions, mast winches,
bow), the front hatch needs new plexiglass and the main hatch needs new
plexiglass and wood trim. The bimini, dodger frame, pulpit, pushpit,
hand rails are crushed, as are the wheel, binnacle and compass. The
dodger frame broke through one of the side windows and detached the
inside liner on the port side. Surprisingly, the solar panels (2 x 120W)
are still charging the batteries.

The hull has minimal damage near the bow but is otherwise sound.
Along with the boat goes everything else I have: quite a few racing
sails with very little use, 6 boat stands, a winter cover with aluminum
frame and the dinghy: a 10' portabote with a 5hp nissan outboard.
I also have some new uninstalled parts. The boat was heavily upgraded
for cruising and living aboard. I can provide more detail if there's
any interest.

This boat is one of the few that came from the factory with a shorter
keel (4'10") so it's ideal for shallow waters.

Any interest out there? Please email me directly (not just to the
list) so that replies don't get lost in the huge backlog I anticipate
not being able to get through any time soon. Thanks.
