or sell same boat for $11K. Sell without trailer. Sell trailer seperately for 3K - $5K. Sell motor seperately for $1500. Put an old used motor on for $500. Sell autohelm and all other accessories, cover, newer sails seperately etc ... A lot of the upgrades on this boat have a market outside of the boat they are on OK .. so parting out all the good stuff would leave a boat not worth 11K but that trailer is an expensive piece of equipment and could be sold seperately as there is a huge demand for trailers. The motor could likelwise be sold separately and replaced and possibly some of the newer sails etc ... That particular boat looks to be a trouble free boatwhose primary value will be in the money it saves the new owners. This is a boat where a new owner will not have to invest a ton of money and work which is much different than your usual used C&C 25 sized boat. That peace of mind, reduced storage costs, increased trailer flexibility etc is worth a lot! Our own boat has all sails replaced, new trailer, new motor, all new instrumentation etc ... The trailer alone is the biggest thing. Allows the boat to be used in several areas and for maintenance the boat is nearby (10 feet from house actually) ratehr than 140 km away. That is worth a lot as is the ability to use the boat an extra month and a half in Halifax after hauling for season on the North Shore ... I actually once saw a 25 selling for a low price. I remember thinking it would be worthwhile to buy it and take the motor and throw away the boat ... .. and a C&C 25 is one heck of a lot more boat than a Mirage 24!

Similar situation, a boat you can typically get for less than $5k in these parts going for $17.5k. I wasn't surprised to see it's still for sale. Here's a link: http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1973/C-%26-C-25-2452904/At-our-office-in -Norwalk-CT./CT/United-States Interestingly, now "sale pending". Wonder what it is selling for. But if you add up the work that has gone into this boat (add says over $30k!) and the features (trailer, cover, new sails, probably a new 15 hp 4-stroke outboard), you couldn't replicate it for the asking price. But it's a rare person who will pay $17.5K for a C&C 25, and an even rarer person who will sink $30k into one! The portlights are trimmed in wood, the cockpit floor is wood. I'd love to know the story behind this boat. If anyone knows, please post. If you're a buyer, it's a great market. If you're a seller, not so much. And fairly often you see boat listings from sellers who didn't get the memo about the price deflation. So last night I'm having dinner at the club and on the bulletin board is an ad for a Mirage 24 (a C&C design). Looks like nice boat with decent upgrades. Ad doesn't specify the year, but let's assume mid-70's. Asking price.... Wait for it..... $25,000! Holy cow!! I can buy half a dozen Mirage 24's for that price and still have money left over.... This must be one special boat...
