I've never stayed at the hotel either, but your need for AC will be driven by your own thermometer and possibly by the room location. On the north side of the resort (east of Saba Rock), you will get a great breeze if there's any north in the wind. On the Sound side, it's likely to be really calm, but you'll be closer to the pool and have a more interesting view. You'll also be closer to the Biras Creek beach which is way nicer than BEYC's beach. Wherever you end up though, it's all walkable.
Other things: 1. Best happy hour is at Saba Rock. Enjoy a Bushwhacker and the tarpon feeding at around 1700. There's a tender from the BEYC dinghy dock that runs back and forth. 2. Rent a Hobie if you get a chance. It's a great place for Hobie sailing if the wind is decent. 3. BEYC doesn't have much of a beach. You can walk to the Biras Creek one, or if you have a tender or water taxi, I can direct you to at least 3 really cool ones nearby. 4. If you're there on a Friday, there's a great cruisers' party at Leverick Bay resort - big dinner, live bands, and the Mocko Jumbies. You'd need a tender or water taxi to get over, but the food, entertainment and atmosphere are worth it. Let me know if you need anything else. I've spent quite a bit of time in North Sound.
