I installed a wheel pilot (xP5) 2 years ago. The belt gave up traction end of last year. We use it ALOT. I hate steering. Its so/so under full power fine at 80%. Upwind I use the wind vane, love it, set it 5-10' off CH corse. Good up to 12kt or so. I use it to set the kite (don't tell the RC). I think for a 20 year old boat its a good option. I could not Justify the expense of a below deck autopilot on my boat. Although if I was going across the ocean I wouldn't trust the wheel pilot. The power Usage is surprisingly low compared to older autopilots. I would suggest caring a spare belt and a spare plug for the e-motor, it's kind of dinky and in the way (a busted it). Washing the belt out helps alot. O ya, the clutch handle pops out on me under extreme load so I hold it in with a sail tie. I just got a B&G Zeus touch, and I plan to interface it to the raymarine auto via 0183. We will see how that gos?
