Thanks to all for your comments. I have ordered a Water Witch switch from Defender last night. Interestingly, I could not source it (for any reasonable price) anywhere in Canada. My local Chandlery could not even source it at all (they could not get any solid state switches, period). Apparently, solid state bilge pump switches are exclusively available in the US (:- ).
Defender was better, even with the ridiculous shipping charges. thanks Marek (in Ottawa)
