A couple of 5 gallon cans of water suspended from the end of a whisker/spinnaker pole might be enough to give you the heel you need (if you are rigged for either). This could easily be tested before you leave the dock.

If the anemometer, masthead light and masthead itself are at risk the economic equation shifts. While I have carpentered this by 'measuring twice' it just is about a foot shorter than what I was expecting based on C&C specs. SO was trying to confirm if anyone else had seen that sort of variance to increase my comfort level with my measurements. Probably being too type A.
