The earliest record I have for Calypso is $110,000 as a first mortgage on April
28th 1971. In 1974, as "Arieto" the boat was listed for $97,000. I do not
have any record of the purchase prices for its sales in the Great Lakes region.
(Twice sold, once to be renamed "Phantom" and again to be "Esta Es".)

I suspect the 1971 mortgage amount included new sails and electronics as the
boat went on to win its class in the 1971 SORC. The documentation states the
boat was built in 1970 and commissioned in 1971. It is hull #1 of the "Limited
Edition" 43's.

We purchased the boat in late 1998 for $65,000 needing upgrades to most systems
and rigging. The cost of upgrades so far is a closely guarded secret to
maintain domestic harmony in both owner's household.

Subject: Stus-List What did our 70's/80's boats cost new?

I know what a modern 30ish footer costs new, but what did our C&Cs cost back in
the 70's and 80's? Some of the brochures have that info but most don't. How
were C&Cs positioned price-wise compared to the competition?
Just curious.
