I recently called Fuller Brush after a mention on the list that they still
provided opening ports for our boats. Say about April. To order ports or
parts you need to give them a call at the contact number on the website.

A very helpful young lady told me that they don't produce the ports and
components in quantity any more, but continue to supply replacements and
service parts because of the large customer base. I got the impression that
they will make stuff in very small quantities in response to demand. The
Fuller Brush ports included fasteners, seals, and screens.

The downside is that the Fuller Brush ports are relatively expensive. A
replacement 5x12 port for the head in my 38 was $286 IIRC. A similar sized
Beckson port from West Marine was $149, and I was pretty sure I could find
them at a better price if I looked around.

The port on my 38 is tilted back at an angle of 30 degrees or more, and
tends to hold rain water/ white water that ends up inside when you open the
port. I asked about a Fuller Brush port similar to the Beckson Rain Drain
that has spigots that will drain them at greater angles of tilt.
Unfortunately , Fuller Brush can't supply such an animal.

I finally ended up buying a pair of 5x12 Beckson Rain Drain ports (for the
head and the quarter berth - though I thought about getting a conventional
7X14 port for the quarter berth and increasing the size of the opening) when
I found a pair at a local chandlery for $89 each.

Bottom line is, if you call them on the phone they will be happy to process
your order.

Subject: Stus-List HELP - Fuller Brusk portlight source

Hello List

Honey has 3 Fuller Brush manufactured portlights (2 x 12" in the cabin and 1
x 18" in the port quarter berth) the boat came from C&C Yachts with this
brand installed at the factory. I have replaced them twice if the past 34
years, each time directly from Fuller Brush once by phone and the second
time back in 2006 or so I ordered them on line

Now I would like to replace just the outside trim rings due to a couple of
small spider cracks caused by the painter over tightening the fastener when
the decks were repainted this winter. I looked up Fuller Brush on line and
the company's main site continues to show the marine parts but offers no
link to place an order.

I have spare gaskets and lenses, but no trim rings and the little cracks are
driving me nuts...

Also, I saw a post about a chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

I would appreciate any assistance offered as to how do I order the parts or
even if I can still buy these portlights and or parts for them.

With my usual bad luck I doubt that there is no one makes a portlight that
will simply drop in place. Thoughts, comments??

Thank you.
